What is JobsFirst?

JobsFirst is a workforce program designed to help the unemployed or underemployed families in the both the River West and 36N neighborhoods (Formerly Eugene Field neighborhood and Comanche Park) bridge the skills gap by providing professional development, soft skills, educational/training opportunities, and employment assistance.

Our goal is recruiting, training, and job matching– to create value and offer individuals, communities, and employers the opportunity to achieve and sustain economic prosperity.

Who does JobsFirst serve?

JobsFirst supports any residents of the River West and 36N neighborhoods (Formerly Eugene Field neighborhood and Comanche Park)  with their job search process. We also work with Urban Strategies Inc on a case by case basis.

How long is the training?

Our course vary anywhere from 4 weeks to 2 years long, it depends on the industry and course load. For example, our healthcare courses take anywhere from 6 weeks to a year, while our industrial based courses take close to 5-6 weeks.

How do I apply for your program?

Contact us directly HERE, or let your Urban Strategies Case Manager know you’re ready to take the steps to improve your employability skills. A JobsFirst representative will be in contact with you within 24 business hours.

Do you help with High School Equivalency Certificates?

Yes, we partner with a number of organizations to help you obtain your HiSET. We can refer you to their location for one on one sessions or allow you access to our computer lab to study. When you’re ready to test we will take care of all of the associated expenses.

What type of services do you offer?

We help our customers with developing soft skills, resume writing, interviewing, team building, and emotional intelligence. We also work in collaboration with Goodwill, Tulsa Community College, WIngs, and Tulsa Tech to provide our customers with no-cost training in several industries: Transportation, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Accounting, and IT. We assist our customers with obtaining full-time or part-time job placement and ongoing career advancement services. We also assist with daycare, transportation, interview attire, and work attire.

What kind of career readiness workshops do you offer?

We offer job search, resume writing, interviewing skills, and various other life skill workshops For example, we also offer workshops on, Time Management, Advocating for Yourself, and Change Management, to name just a few.

What benefits will I receive from this program?

Customers will receive individualized career coaching, improved access to education/training opportunities, connections to employers with careers in high-demand jobs, and, ultimately, family-sustaining wages. Finally, we provide you with ongoing career advancement services up to two years after you are placed in a job. Our Career Advisors can assist you with navigating less-than-ideal work environments, landing a promotion, securing a raise, or progressing in your education.

Is there a cost for the JobsFirst Program?

There are no fees or costs associated with participating in the program.

What are the days and hours of operation for your program?

The standard business days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
